Festival des Cabanes Villa Medici 2023

The splendid gardens of Villa Medici host the second edition of the event that, throughout the summer, presents innovative works created by architects, artists and researchers.

The seven original projects, temporary installations, micro-architectures and proto-housings, were specially designed for the festival by the architecture and design studios ArchiSculpteurs, Atelier CRAFT, Atelier Poem, Aurel Design Urbain, Nelson Wilmotte Architectes, Offset and Orizzontale, and occupy the historic green area of over 7 hectares, whose project was developed by Ferdinando de' Medici at the end of the 16th century.

The structures, often made from reused materials or within the framework of an eco-responsible approach, offer the public a unique occasion to experience Villa Medici gardens, inviting them to rethink the issue of sustainable and modular housing and the relationship with nature, hosting inside pedagogical workshops, readings and yoga courses.

The festival highlight is the Nuit des Cabanes on Tuesday, 27 June, a great event that combines poetry and festivity, in which the "cabins", in French "cabanes", are transformed into a place of hospitality at the crossroads of disciplines. On the schedule are artistic, musical and literary performances involving artists and thinkers and the inauguration of the exhibition Les Arbres ne seront pas moins verts qu'au printemps passé together with the artist and former scholarship holder Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil.
