Gli approdi del mito - Area archeologica di Ostia Antica

A rich calendar of events including art, archaeology, history and nature: it is the first edition of the 'Gli approdi del mito' festival, dedicated to the exploitation of the natural and historical ecosystem of the Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica.

The festival, with free participation and entrance fee to the archaeological sites, is divided into two parts: from 19 May to 30 June at the archaeological area of the Imperial Harbours of Claudius and Trajan in Fiumicino, with a wide-ranging program which includes theatre, installations, circus art, music, meetings, land art and site-specific performances. Among the appointments are: the national premiere of the Teatro Mobile proposal 'Prometheus and his double'; the site-specific performance 'Archeocirco', a travelling circus in the various places of the park; the meetings with Bruno Tognolini and Manlio Castagna; the land art of Simone Perra; the live music of Drum Circle by Massimo Carano, MEIGAMA by Francesco Medda and Mauro Palmas and the performance of Japanese taiko drums combined with string and wind instruments by Taiko No Koe and Duo Midare; the theatre shows with I fili di Penelope by IlNaufragamedolce and Racconti animati by Susi Danesin.

On 23 and 30 July and 6 August, the archaeological area of Ostia Antica hosts the second part of the festival with 'All'Alba finalmente l'approdo: Enea ad Ostia Antica' (At dawn finally the landing: Aeneas in Ostia Antica), with which sunrise becomes a show. The poetic path from is articulated in short scenic actions with an evocative narrative impact during the guided tours. The most suggestive passages are recalled from the myth of Aeneas, linked to some of the areas of the visit: the Necropolis Ostiense, the Temple of Augustus, the Domus of Cupid and Psyche, the Piazzale delle Corporazioni and, lastly, the theatre, where the event ends at dawn.
