NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti

NABA is the largest art academy in Italy, with campuses in Milan and Rome, dedicated to training in art and design, and since 1981 accredited by the Ministry of Public Education, today the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).

It was founded in 1980 by Ausonio Zappa, with the involvement of Guido Ballo and Tito Varisco, to challenge the rigidity of the academic tradition, introducing visions and languages closer to contemporary artistic practices and creative professions. The teaching methodology is interdisciplinary and, through multiple experiences, allows students to acquire their design autonomy on the international creative and professional scene.

Naba is also synonymous with production: classes and groups become real work teams in close contact with companies and research institutes, with which NABA collaborates thanks to the Career Service and Industry Relations service, which offer opportunities and internships, and for which students often turn their ideas into products.

Furthermore, the Academy has activated various cooperation agreements with institutes within the European Union (Erasmus+ Programme) and outside the European Union (bilateral agreements for the exchange of students) to encourage international mobility.

In its Rome headquarters, it is possible to attend first and second-level courses (Bachelor's and Master's degrees) in the fields of fashion design, graphics and communication and visual arts for which it issues academic diplomas equivalent to university degrees, as well as Academic Masters, online courses and summer courses.

The NABA Roman campus is located in via Ostiense, in the lively neighbourhood of the same name, between the gasometer and the Centrale Montemartini Museum. It covers an area of about 3500 square meters inside two historic 20th-century buildings and houses specialised laboratories, a library, and study and lounge spaces.

NABA has been recognized as the best Italian Academy of Fine Arts by QS World University Rankings® by Subject and among the top 100 institutions in the world in the field of Art & Design in 2021 and 2022. It was also included among the 100 best Design and Architecture schools in Europe by Domus Magazine for the years 2014, 2015 and  2016, and among the world's 30 best postgraduate schools of Design and Fashion by Frame in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
