Reate Festival 2026

From October 18th to December 19th 2026, the Reate Festival takes place with twenty-seven musical theater events, chamber music, sacred music, baroque music, and contemporary music festivals, as well as concert-lessons for young people, in Rieti and Rome.

The event, now in its eighteenth year, confirms its collaboration with the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca ETS. For the occasion, from October 24th to December 5th, the Accademia di San Luca hosts a chamber music series of eight concerts titled Music for Africa at its historic Palazzo Carpegna, located just meters from the Trevi Fountain. The series features internationally renowned young talents and focuses on music from the Western classical repertoire influenced by the various cultures of the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on Africa. The program ranges from the Arabic influences present in the Spanish music of composers such as Manuel de Falla and Joaquin Rodrigo to influences from blues and jazz. Among these, we highlight the one on October 31st with Jacopo Taddei and Samuele Telari, on saxophone and accordion respectively, performing music by Galliano, Girotto, and Piazzolla, and the one on November 21st, when violinist Misia Iannoni Sebastianini and pianist Antonino Fiumara – members of the renowned Werther Quartet – play music by Gershwin/Heifetz and Ravel.

In addition to Palazzo Carpegna, concerts are also held at the Teatro della Casa Museo Alberto Sordi, in collaboration with the Alberto Sordi Youth Foundation. Among these, we highlight the concert on November 15th, with baritone Patrizio La Placa and pianist Simone Rugani performing music by Barber, Bernstein, Copland, Gershwin, and Ives, in which classical and jazz blend together and harmonize. Another Roman venue for the festival is the Parco della Musica "Ennio Morricone", where music by young composers will be performed on November 23rd, and the winners of the International Competition for the Interpretation of Contemporary Music will perform on December 10th and 11th.

The festival is supported by the MiC and SIAE as part of the "Per Chi Crea" program.
