Tiber Skiff, the first rowing regatta on the Tiber

From September 25th to 27th, the Tiber Skiff, the first international rowing regatta on the Tiber, will arrive in Rome. The event is the focus of "We Can Blu it! 2026", an event organized by the "piùblu" association, dedicated to the relationship between sport, the environment, and health.

Inspired by Turin's famous Silver Skiff, the event focused on the Tiber, between Ponte Milvio and Ponte Sant'Angelo. The sporting event aims to restore the Tiber's centrality, encouraging citizens, students, athletes, tourists, institutions, and businesses to experience the river as a common good, an environmental and biodiversity heritage, and a meeting place for different communities.

The Tiber Skiff is followed by the Almaviva Blu Race - scheduled for September 27 - another race in the "We Can Blu It! 2026" event, which offers a rich program of activities, ranging from canoe and kayak competitions, with trials open to the public, to inclusive initiatives organized with the involvement of the Special Olympics movement. The project also includes a village on the banks of the Tiber, open to the city, with workshops, educational activities, meetings with researchers and educators, a space dedicated to schools and universities, sports areas, and a main stage that hosts conferences, award ceremonies, performances, and discussions on the future of rivers and cities, thanks also to the participation of WWF, Marevivo, Greenpeace, Retake Roma, FAI, Legambiente, LIPU, Plastic Free, Evera Clean Up, Ostia Clean Up, and Tevere Day.

Finally, the rich program will be rounded out by "bluetalk", a discussion dedicated to the relationship between the environment, health, and urban regeneration, featuring representatives from institutions, academia, and scientific research.

“We Can Blu It!” is produced in collaboration with the Italian Rowing Federation, AS Luiss, and Almaviva, an Italian digital innovation group, as the main partner. It also enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, the Lazio Region, the Department of Agriculture, Environment, and Waste Management of Rome, the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), the Italian Canoeing and Kayak Federation, the WWF, and the Marevivo Foundation.
