From 15 to 26 April, the iconic and light Broadway classic arrives at the Teatro Brancaccio in a new Italian version directed and adapted by Luciano Cannito.
Produced by Fabrizio di Fiore Entertainment & FdF GAT, Cantando sotto la pioggia (Singin' in the Rain) brings all the magic and charm of a timeless masterpiece to the stage, surprising audiences with a more playful, comical and entertaining style.
Based on the 1952 film of the same name, directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly, the musical depicts cinema's period of transformation against the backdrop of the glamorous 1920s Hollywood: with the introduction of sound, silent film star Don Lockwood and his brilliant friend Cosmo Brown tackle the production of a talking film, but diva Lina Lamont's shrill voice risks ruining the project. The solution is provided by the talented Kathy Selden, who secretly dubs the protagonist's voice until the truth is revealed, between misunderstandings and irresistible gags.
With sets by Italo Grassi and refined costumes by Silvia Califano, a prestigious cast, including Flora Canto (Kathy Selden), Lorenzo Grilli (Don Lockwood), Martina Stella (Lina Lamont) and Vittorio Schiavone (Cosmo Brown), brings to life a lively and dazzling show featuring music, entertainment, dreams and a surprising rain that unexpectedly falls on the stage.
Cantando sotto la pioggia is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, courtesy of Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Inc., with public music from EMI, all rights administered by Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC (original choreography from the film by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen), produced in collaboration with Maurice Rosenfield, Lois F. Rosenfield and Cindy Pritzker, Inc. in agreement with Music Theatre International.
