Like every year, the Verano Monumental Cemetery hosts several autumn cultural events, including themed guided tours, urban hikes, concerts, and meetings dedicated to film, literature, and historical memory. Specifically, the program includes events between October and November, including the Jubilee of Hope, celebrations for the anniversary of Rome, open city, and tributes to figures such as Elsa Morante and Roberto Rossellini.
A total of 50 guided tours are offered, covering 20 different themed itineraries: 5 daily, every Saturday and Sunday, from October 18th to November 16th. Some tours also include readings, music, and audio recordings of the characters' voices, while the Jubilee and Bible tours conclude with live sacred music choirs. Furthermore, the Rome Capital Police Band, in addition to its traditional All Saints' Day repertoire, will perform two concerts dedicated to the stories of cinema. The program is enriched with three other special events: a conversation with Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, an event dedicated to Roberto Rossellini to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first screening of Rome, open city, and a meeting with Dacia Maraini to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Elsa Morante's death.
These are some of the ideas, this autumn 2025, for getting to know the historical and artistic heritage of Italy's largest monumental cemetery, in a blend of art, faith, and spirituality, also inspired by the ongoing Jubilee.
