One of Italy's most beloved musical comedies, the work of Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini, written with Jaja Fiastri, returns to the stage of the Teatro Brancaccio in a new, exciting edition as part of the 2025/2026 Tour.
Freely inspired by the 1973 humorous novel After Me the Deluge by Robert Forrest Webb and David Eliades, Aggiungi un posto a tavola, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, tells the adventures of Don Silvestro, parish priest of a small mountain village, who unexpectedly receives a phone call from God, who charges him with building a new ark to face the imminent second universal flood. Don Silvestro, helped by his fellow villagers, completes his task, despite the obstacles created by Mayor Crispino and the arrival of Consolazione, a woman of easy virtue. However, as soon as the flood begins, the only passengers on the ark are Don Silvestro and Clementina, the mayor's young daughter, who is in love with him, as the villagers have been convinced by a bishop from Rome not to follow the parish priest. When the terrible flood begins to overwhelm the villagers, Don Silvestro decides to abandon the ark to join his parishioners in a sign of love and sharing. God, noting the priest's selflessness, decides to stop the flood, making a rainbow appear, which brings back an atmosphere of serenity, celebrated with a festive meal.
On stage is a cast of extraordinary artists, such as Marco Simeoli (the mayor), Giovanni Scifoni (Don Silvestro), Lorella Cuccarini (special guest as Consolazione), Sofia Panizzi (Clementina), Francesco Zaccara (Toto), and Francesca Nunzi (Ortensia), together with fourteen performers, directed by Marco Simeoli and accompanied by Armando Trovajoli's splendid music, performed by the orchestra conducted by Maurizio Abeni, and by the “voice from heaven” of Enzo Garinei.
