The American choreographer William Forsythe reunites with the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company—which he led from 2005 to 2015—with a new artistic work based on improvisation. Forsythe collaborates with the company for the first time, creating this new pièce at the Auditorium Conciliazione that, like a kaleidoscope, within a clear and structured framework, allows unpredictable and surprising patterns to emerge, allowing the dancers to explore the movement system they themselves have created beyond all limits.
Considered one of the most important choreographers of the late 20th century, William Forsythe directed the Ballett Frankfurt from 1984 to 2004 and, from 2005 to 2015, The Forsythe Company, later renamed the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company.
The second part of the evening features the Greek choreographer and dancer Ioannis Mandafounis, trained at the Forsythe Company and currently the company's director. His artistic creation, Lisa, is an experiment in live choreography in which dancers spontaneously take over the stage, accompanied by the music of Gabriel Fauré and the verses of poet and essayist Ossip Mandelstam.
Through text, music, and dance, the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company offers an artistic vision that intertwines its historical roots with contemporary experimentation.
