Richard O'Brien's iconic and provocative musical, which has been thrilling audiences worldwide for over fifty years, returns to Rome on the stage of the Teatro Brancaccio.
The curtain rose on The Rocky Horror Show for the first time at the Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court in 1973, in front of a small audience, giving rise to an extraordinary success that, over time, has captivated over thirty million people and inspired Jim Sharman's legendary 1975 film.
The story revolves around Brad and Janet, who arrive at a castle seeking shelter from a storm and meet Dr Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric and audacious scientist determined to create his idea of the perfect man. In an atmosphere of excess and freedom, the couple confront their sexuality, desires, and fears, undergoing an experience that will leave an indelible mark on their lives.
The show, in its original language, engages the audience in the typical audience participation of The Rocky Horror Show, with themed costumes, callbacks, and dancing. On stage is an exceptional cast – including Stephen Webb (Frank-N-Furter), Haley Flaherty (Janet), and James Bis (Brad) – directed by Christopher Luscombe and accompanied by an irresistible soundtrack with songs such as Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, Time Warp, and Science Fiction/Double Feature.
