The Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon returns on Sunday, 18 October 2026, for its highly anticipated third edition, organised by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events on behalf of Roma Capitale.
The event remains one of Italy’s most eagerly anticipated sporting events, with 40,000 participants already registered, including 50% women and 78% runners from abroad. The Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon also demonstrates its commitment to charity through its Charity Programme, which, thanks to the race bibs of the event’s official charity partners (already sold out), allows participants to contribute to the charitable projects of partner non-profit organisations.
Confirmed Élite Label by World Athletics, the international athletics federation, the race kicks off this year at 8.00 am from the arches of Viale di Porta Ardeatina, with a route of just over 21 km that includes some new stretches and runs through the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, the Circus Maximus, Tiber Island, Castel Sant’Angelo, Via della Conciliazione – with its view of St Peter’s Square – the Foro Italico, the Ara Pacis, Piazza del Popolo, the Piazza di Spagna, Via del Tritone, Via del Corso, Piazza Venezia and Via dei Fori Imperiali, before reaching the finish line in Via degli Annibaldi, with the majestic Colosseum in the background.
Saturday 17 October, on the schedule are the usual appointments with the Longevity Run presented by Altograno – a non-competitive 5 km run aimed at raising awareness of the importance of sport for health, in collaboration with the Policlinico A. Gemelli and researchers from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, starting and finishing in Viale delle Terme di Caracalla – the Dog Run Arcaplanet, a 1.3 km race for runners and their four-legged friends. On Sunday 18 October, the half-marathon also includes the Business Run, the Italian Championship for entrepreneurs and business managers.
In addition to the event’s Expo at Eataly Roma Ostiense, open from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 October, and the village dedicated to the Longevity Run near the Baths of Caracalla, open on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, the 2026 edition features many new initiatives. Among these are the fifth edition of the Trofeo Roma conCorre per la legalità, a race within the race designed to spread a message about the civic and educational value of economic legality, social solidarity and environmental sustainability, featuring athletes from the Fiamme Gialle Sports Group, national and international track and field athletes, and trainees from the Guardia di Finanza training institutes; and the Running Village, on Sunday 18, a space to gather at the end of the race, featuring a recovery area equipped with stretching mats, sports massages, health checks provided by the team from the Policlinico Gemelli, food and drink, and DJ sets until the afternoon.
