
On Thursday, 4 December, the Olympic flame will begin its long and exciting journey from Rome to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be inaugurated on 6 February. The route of the Roman stage pays tribute to the history, art and sporting passion of the capital, covering over 30 kilometres and passing through all the city’s most iconic locations, from the Foro Italico to St Peter’s Square, from Castel Sant’Angelo to Piazza del Popolo.
From 4 to 6 December, the civic museums will also celebrate the arrival and passage of the Olympic flame with a series of special evening openings:
- Thursday 4 December: the Museo di Roma in Trastevere and Centrale Montemartini;
- Friday 5 December: the Museo dell’Ara Pacis and the Museo Napoleonico;
- Saturday 6 December: the Museo di Roma Palazzo Braschi and Mercati di Traiano - Musei dei Fori Imperiali.
The museums will be open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with last admission at 10 p.m. and current admission fees applying.
