March treks and guided tours to discover parks, villas and gardens

Villa Pamphilj
from 28 February 2023 to 30 March 2023

The beauty of Rome is not only its immense artistic, archaeological and architectural heritage: what makes Rome a unique city in the world, adding to its charm, are also its many parks and gardens, from the great Baroque aristocratic villas, such as Villa Borghese or Villa Pamphilj, to the romantic 19th-century promenades of the Pincio or Gianicolo, not to mention the “minor” villas that were realized after the unification of Italy or the public gardens of the early 20th century.

It is an extraordinary natural heritage (almost 4 thousand hectares excluding reserves and protected areas) that reveals one of the many faces and facets of Rome and that can also be discovered or rediscovered thanks to the treks and guided tours (by reservation) organized by Roma Capitale, which, as usual, offers routes and itineraries that combine art, history and nature, among rare species and centuries-old trees, against the backdrop of evocative views.

In March, for example, the program includes visits to the city’s most suggestive villas and parks: Villa Pamphilj, the Parks of Villa Sciarra and Villa Ada, true oasis of peace in the heart of Rome; the Regional Park of the Appian Way and the Valley of the Caffarella, the ideal for trekking between archaeology and nature. Walking around the city, however, we can also discover lesser-known and equally unique places, such as Villa Lazzaroni Park, with its wide botanical variety.
