From July 3 to 26, 2026, the Teatro del Lido di Ostia will host Teatri d’Arrembaggio – Piraterie, InCanti e Castelli di Sabbia (Boarding Theaters: Piracies, EnChantments, and Sand Castles), the multidisciplinary festival conceived by Valdrada that for ten years has transformed one of the symbolic locations of the Roman coast into a space of welcome, experimentation, and community. A place where theater effectively becomes a meeting point between generations, imaginations, and different languages; where comedy engages with social reflection, children's stories coexist with contemporary stand-up comedy, and multidisciplinary workshops transform into opportunities for discovery, creativity, and sharing.
There are 16 free events in the Theatre courtyard, with the biting comedy of Piraterie, the magic of theatre for the younger generations of InCanti and the workshops for girls and boys (for a maximum of 15 participants) of Castelli di sabbia.
Like every year, the festival confirms more than ever its focus on artists capable of expressing the present through accessible, ironic, and profoundly contemporary languages. The program ranges from the surreal and corrosive writing of Daniele Parisi to the theatrical and provocative comedy of Chiara Becchimanzi, from the irreverence of Karma B to the cutting wit of Pietro Sparacino, not to mention the new perspectives on stand-up comedy represented by Simonetta Musitano and Xhuliano Dule. Alongside them, some of the most respected Italian children's theater groups, such as Accademia Perduta Romagna Teatri and Teatro Verde, are the protagonists of a program designed for families and new generations. The program also features workshops that transform the Teatro del Lido into a participatory space where play, creativity, well-being, and learning become tools for encounter and collective growth.
