With the arrival of summer, the return of Cinema alle Mura...e non solo (Cinema at the Walls...and more), the free open-air film festival founded in 2019 in Rome's VII Municipio, bringing the big screen to outdoor public spaces. The event, now in its 8th edition, transforms parks and everyday spaces into opportunities for encounter, participation, and intergenerational exchange.
The 21 evenings of 2026 will take place in three venues: the Parco delle Mura Aureliane (via Tracia), Villa Fiorelli—a new venue this year in the Tuscolano neighborhood—and the Parco dei Tricicli in Romanina. The event is the only summer venue in Rome where the public chooses the films through online voting, based on thematic categories: quality animation, inclusion, classics, musicals, and fantasy. Before each screening, the self-produced documentary "Il quartiere raccontato dai film" (“The Neighborhood Told Through Films”) is presented, reconstructing scenes from Italian cinema classics shot in the neighborhood from the 1940s to the present.
The festival is part of Roma Capitale's Roman Summer program and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Rome's Municipio VII, with AMA and ATAC as mobility partners. The project, promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, won the public tender Roma Creativa 365. Cultura tutto l'anno (Creative Rome 365. Culture all year round) in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.
