On Saturday, 15 November, Rome lits up with the “CF9K – Corsa Futurista” (Futirust Run), marking the first edition of a new era for a legendary event. After thirteen years of silence, the Corsa Futurista returns to make the capital vibrate once again, bringing back an experience that goes far beyond sport itself: a fusion of athletics, culture and collective spirit.
The first Futurist Run was born in 2009 from an idea by Ferdinando Colloca, former Italian national athlete and now an internationally renowned artist, to commemorate the centenary of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s Futurist Manifesto, published in Le Figaro in 1909.
That first edition was a memorable success: the Circus Maximus was transformed into a stage of light, where hundreds of runners, illuminated by LED torches on their heads – the famous “Streams of Light” – brought to life a Futurist vision of movement and innovation. An unforgettable memory for those who took part, and a dream now reborn.
After years of anticipation, that dream is ready to run again. Under the aegis of ASI Roma, the same organisational team as in 2009 – led by Ferdinando Colloca together with Alessandro Cochi (now President of CONI Lazio), Sandro Giorgi, Andrea Roberti, Roberto Cipolletti and Marco Carotti – has revived an event unlike any other.
The CF9K Corsa Futurista (the fifth overall edition, considering the previous 10 km races) is a national and international 9 km race, accompanied by the “Peace Mobbing Run – per un mondo di pace”, a 1,285-metre non-competitive walk open to everyone. A collective moment of participation promoting a universal message of peace and brotherhood – more relevant today than ever.
The chosen setting could not be more evocative: the Piazza della Concordia, in the heart of the EUR district, with the majestic Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana – the famous “Square Colosseum” – serving as the backdrop to a route that unites art, architecture and modernity.
The start is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. As night falls, participants will light up the Roman sky with their glowing headpieces, recreating the legendary “Streams of Light” that made the first edition so iconic – a powerful symbol of vitality, innovation and community.
Programme subject to change.
