Rhythm, energy and great music: the cult musical of the 1950s, produced by Compagnia della Rancia and directed by Saverio Marconi, returns to the stage of the Teatro Brancaccio.
In more than twenty-five years since its historic Italian debut in 1997 at Milan's Teatro Nuovo, Grease has brought to the stage the enthralling atmosphere that has always been synonymous with its extraordinary success: unforgettable songs, such as Summer Nights, You're the One that I Want, Hopelessly Devoted to You, hair brilliantine, drive-ins, full skirts, leather jackets, vintage cars with souped-up engines, burgers and fries.
The show, created in 1971 by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey in an experimental theatre in Chicago, kick-started a real pop revolution, thanks also to Randall Kleiser's iconic 1978 movie starring John Travolta and the beautiful and unforgettable Olivia Newton-John.
A new cast of talented young performers, including Eleonora Buccarini in the role of sweet Sandy, Tommaso Pieropan as the charismatic Danny, Arianna Bertelli as the cynical and rebellious Rizzo, and Valerio Angeli in the role of the rude Kenickie, tell the love story of the two protagonists, the aspirations and the vicissitudes of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, against the backdrop of the colourful and lively universe of a timeless generation.
