Rome confirms its position as the capital of major concerts: on December 3, at the event "The Value of Major Concerts in Rome for the Region and the Country," organized by the Department of Major Events of Rome Capital and TEHA Group, TEHA Group's analysis quantifying the impacts and benefits of the 2022-2023-2024 concert seasons in the capital was presented.
The analysis, conducted by TEHA Group using its proprietary ETV (Event Total Value) model on a database of over 320,000 observations, highlighted how Rome has consolidated its position of absolute excellence in the Italian and European live music scene over the years. In 2024, the capital city became, for the first time, the leading Italian city in terms of number of concerts hosted, with 2,082 events (+34% compared to 2023), within a national scene that boasts over 65,000 concerts and approximately 29 million spectators.
For large concerts—those with a capacity of 5,000 or more spectators—the results were excellent even in international comparison. The study introduced, for the first time, a comparative mapping of major European cities with over 100,000 inhabitants, based on the Pollstar database, which allows for a uniform comparison of events, audiences, and box office receipts. The results show that in 2023, Rome ranked ninth in Europe for the number of large concerts hosted, fourth for attendance, and sixth for box office receipts.
The capital has also become the leading Italian city in terms of the number of businesses operating in the live music industry, with over 500 active businesses in 2023, equal to approximately 16% of the national total. The research, based on 320,000 observations, confirmed the capital as a prime destination for music tourism.
