THE CANTICLE OF THE CREATURES by Saint Francis

A new version of The Canticle of the Creatures by Saint Francis of Assisi will be coming to the Auditorium Parco della Musica in December, a project designed to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the composition of Saint Francis's great work. This concert highlights how music is an instrument of peace, universal harmony, and love for nature.

The performance is that a unique event that takes the audience on a musical and spiritual journey through the life and words of Saint Francis of Assisi, a figure filled with light, joy, and poetry. The concert is also an opportunity to relive the depth of Franciscan writings and draw inspiration from the themes that Francis, even in his time, embodied with extraordinary modernity: poverty, ecology, love of life, and acceptance. The Canticle of the Creatures also urges us to rediscover the profound connection between all living species and nature, to which, today more than ever, the survival of humanity itself is linked.

Giovanni Guidi, born in Foligno in 1985, has already enjoyed several years of fame. A student of Ramberto Ciammarughi and the Siena Jazz courses, he entered the world of improvised music through Enrico Rava, who in 2004 hired him as the pianist of his Under 21 quintet. His experience with Rava continued in the following years, and in 2007 he won the Top Jazz poll as best new Italian talent. In recent years, Guidi has also developed an increasingly significant career as a leader and composer. Devoted to a captivating modernism with unconventional harmonies, Giovanni Guidi's piano playing has found significant recording documentation thanks to ECM.

Stefano Fresi is an actor, voice actor, and composer. He made his film debut in 2005, in Michele Placido's Criminal novel. In 2014, he was nominated for a David di Donatello award for Best Supporting Actor for Sydney Sibilia's I stop whenever I want. As a musician, he has composed soundtracks for several films and plays, demonstrating a versatility few artists can match.
