Promoted by Stati Generali delle Donne – a permanent forum that engages in dialogue with institutions to promote the central role of women in various social, professional and cultural spheres – the pilgrimage sponsored by the Jubilee 2025 aims to offer a “laboratory of peace and reconciliation” to celebrate faith and hope through reflection involving women as protagonists.
The event will take place in the early afternoon in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The program includes an introductory reflection on the meaning of the Jubilee of Hope for women at 3 p.m., followed by a musical performance on the theme of “Nessun Dorma” (starting at 4 p.m.). In addition to “Nessun Dorma” from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot, performed by a female voice with the same tenor tone as a manifesto of gender equality, the pieces performed include the motet K 618 “Ave Verum Corpus” and “Lacrimosa” from Requiem K 626 (dedicated to the memory of all victims of femicide) by W. A. Mozart, “Panis Angelicus” by César Franck and “O, Divine Redeemer!” by Charles Gounod.
The program will culminates with Holy Mass at 18.00.
