One of Luigi Pirandello's most iconic comedies, Il piacere dell’onestà (The Pleasure of Honesty), is on stage at the Teatro Quirino, directed by Giampaolo Romania, starring Maestro Pippo Pattavina and the "ABC" theater company. This is a major production featuring one of Sicily's most distinguished actors, Maestro Pippo Pattavina, a versatile performer of great artistic stature, along with his acting company, who bring to the stage a moving and engaging production that brings out the full grandeur and complexity of Pirandello's work.
The three-act comedy, inspired by his 1905 short tale Tirocinio (Apprenticeship), was composed by Pirandello in 1917 and performed that same year in Turin. The play - which features Angelo Baldovino, who accepts a "sham" marriage to save someone else's honor, ultimately championing honesty as a radical choice, against bourgeois hypocrisy and calculation - explores the themes of identity, truth, and lies, questioning social conventions and the hypocrisies of society, offering a profound reflection on human nature.
