Legami intangibili. Ventotto paesaggi festivi in mostra

Five photographers experiment with new languages through travel, exploring landscapes and encountering places and communities during festive days

The Museo di Roma in Trastevere is hosting Legami intangibili. Ventotto paesaggi festivi in mostra (Intangible Bonds: Twenty-Eight Festive Landscapes on Display), the result of a visual documentation project by the Istituto centrale per il patrimonio immateriale (Central Institute for Intangible Heritage) of the Ministero della Cultura, winner of Strategia Fotografia 2022, a public competition aimed at promoting and supporting research, talent and excellence in the field of Italian photography.

The twenty-eight reportages, which today constitute a photographic collection that is highly representative of Italian culture, were created throughout the country by photographers Marina Berardi, Barbara Di Maio, Francesco Faraci, Francesco Francaviglia and Fausto Podavini.

The project, created to protect, safeguard and promote intangible heritage through documentation and photographic experimentation, explores the meaning of festivals as an important aspect of today's society. Festivals are therefore investigated as common heritage, with particular attention to the interrelationship between human beings and natural environments.

Francesco Francaviglia interprets the nude race in Lentini; Barbara di Maio recounts the Misteri di Campobasso; Marina Berardi hypothesises new ways of interpreting and reading festivities; Francesco Faraci recounts the landscapes of protest by the children of Brancaccio in Palermo; Fausto Podavini captures the Maggio di Accetura in his photographs.

During the exhibition period, meetings and study days are planned.

Legami intangibili. Ventotto paesaggi festivi in mostra is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, organised by the Istituto centrale per il patrimonio immateriale of the Ministero della Cultura.
