The Aperossa 2025 returns to the city with a series of different initiatives featuring meetings, workshops, urban hikes, museum visits, screenings, and live music. From September 15th to 19th and from September 22nd to 26th, a series of events will take place in the Centrale Montemartini square, from afternoon until midnight. These events are aimed at audiences of all ages and interests, and are designed to enhance the historical fabric of the area, the memory and heritage of AAMOD, and its dissemination.
The free event is promoted by the Fondazione Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico ETS with the support of the Ministry of Culture (Cinema and Audiovisual Directorate), and in collaboration with Euroma 2 Cultural Experience.
Since 2015, the media library of the Audiovisual Archive of the Workers' and Democratic Movement has been part of the National Library Service (SBN) within the network of libraries of the IEI hub of cultural institutes in Rome, promoted and coordinated by the ICCU – Central Institute for the Single Catalogue of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. The library houses approximately 6,000 texts, and counting. These texts focus on the history of cinema, its authors, its language, and its forms, with a particular focus on volumes on documentary cinema and film documentation.
The Foundation's book collection is also promoted through specific events such as book and film presentations on similar themes, with a particular focus on the work of Cesare Zavattini, President of the Audiovisual Archive of the Workers' and Democratic Movement for several years. Aamod's APEROSSA is a traveling branch of the library/media library that brings book and media culture to the streets by organizing initiatives, workshops, readings, and public screenings in the suburbs.
