Curated by Special Superintendent Daniela Porro and Drugstore Museum Director Alessio De Cristofaro, Roma 1975 - Città, volti e storie nell'anno giubilare (Rome 1975 - Cities, faces and stories in the Jubilee Year) is an extraordinary testimony of the Jubilee of Renewal and Reconciliation proclaimed by Paul VI, offering an authentic portrait of the most significant moments of the great religious event.
The exhibition, with free admission, winds its way through five thematic areas and 60 black and white images from 95 unedited films donated in 2004 by the photographer to the museum in Via Portuense, relating to as many perspectives of the urban history of that year: Il Giubileo del Rinnovamento e della Riconciliazione (The Jubilee of the Renewal and Reconciliation); Roma e Romani spariti (Rome and Disappeared Romans); Bambini romani (Roman Children); Movimenti giovanili e culture; Abitare i monumenti (Inhabiting the Monuments).
The exhibition path is enriched by immersive multimedia installations, games, vintage clothing, typewriters, cameras, everyday objects, a narrative audio guide and a film-documentary with images of the most important events of that period - from the Teche Rai and Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico di Roma - for a true immersive visual journey that evokes styles, customs and habits of the time. Also on the programme is a series of appointments, such as film and history conferences, book presentations and a focus with the authors of the exhibition catalogue.
