After Unwanted, in which she told the stories of women who had been raped in war by showing bodies as a battlefield, the singer, author and choreographer originally from Rwanda Dorothée Munyaneza returns to the Romaeuropa Festival to celebrate feminine power, beauty and strength.
Mailles is a choral show bringing together on stage six women from different areas of the world, singers and dancers: a symphony of African American, Haitian, Danish, British or Brazilian voices who recount their experience, their commitment and force by building a single unique choir, a space in which to exorcise the memories and the wrongs suffered.
Together with visual artist Stéphanie Coudert, Munyaneza weaves narrations, customs and materials, traditions and sounds, transforming them into versions of a single question that concerns, everywhere in the world, female freedom and that of the body.
