Garibaldi Ossuary Mausoleum

The Garibaldi Ossuary Mausoleum is on the Janiculum hill in the small suburb known as Colle del Pino, where between April 30th and the first days of July of 1849, the last courageous defense of the Roman Republic led by Giuseppe Garibaldi was proclaimed on February 9 of the same year.

Designed by Giovanni Jacobucci (1895-1970) and solemnly opened on November 3, 1941, after two years of construction, the Mausoleum contains the remains of those killed in the battles for Roma Capitale from 1849 to 1870.
