Tourists like us: wearing a T-shirt and sunglasses, a Leonardo da Vinci with tattooed biceps embraces the Mona Lisa, his travel companion in a jeans jacket, to launch a message of positivity in a creative and ironic way. It is the path chosen by ADR - Aeroporti di Roma which has entrusted to the internationally renowned street artist TvBoy, the stage name of Salvatore Benintende, a fun and irreverent mural visible to all on the external wall of Terminal 1.
The artwork is entitled “A Second Renaissance - Flying Away from Covid” and was unveiled on the occasion of the entry into force of the Green pass, the digital certificate that allows to travel safely and without restrictions within all countries of European Union. Leonardo – the genius of the Italian Renaissance after whom the city airport is named – holds a mask in his hand to give voice to the desire for freedom, to look to the future and to “take flight” putting the complexity of the long period marked by COVID behind us.
