A new night train between Rome, Vienna and Munich

23 September 2024

A new super-comfortable travel experience with the added value of a low environmental impact thanks and lower atmospheric emissions: thanks to the cooperation between Trenitalia and the Austrian railway company ÖBB, a new night train will connect the capital with Europe, specifically with Vienna and Munich, from 11 September.

The latest-generation Nightjet consists of two sections of seven carriages each, with a total capacity of 500 seats, and departs daily from Rome Tiburtina Station at 5:25 pm. Once it reaches Villach, in Austria, one part of the train proceeds to the Austrian capital where it arrives at 9:04 am, while the other continues to Munich, arriving at its destination at 9:22 am. In the opposite direction, the Nightjet leaves Munich at 8:10 pm and Vienna at 7:18 pm. It rejoins Villach at around 1 am and then continues on to Rome, arriving at the Tiburtina station at 11 am.

Services available to passengers include free Wi-Fi with access to the ÖBB Railnet Night portal, a multifunctional display to control lights or call staff on board, and video surveillance and electronic access systems to provide even more security.
