The public notice of the international architecture competition for the construction of the New Archaeological Promenade, which is located in the area between the Imperial Forua, Colosseum, Colle Oppio, Celio, Baths of Caracalla, Circus Maximus, Forum Boarium and Capitoline Hill, has been published.

The project, organized by the Monumental Archaeological Centre (CArMe), aims to enhance the archaeological area of the Imperial Forums with the creation of a large pedestrian area that will allow visitors and citizens to walk in an exceptional context, made up of extraordinary monuments and testimonies of the past known throughout the world. The objective is to guarantee better liveability of the Via dei Fori Imperiali axis and the surrounding areas, with the introduction of urban and vegetal furnishing solutions, in order to thus revive the historical memory.

The competition aims to select - by February 2024 - a candidate for the realization of the exhibition project which aims to completely change the layout of these places, creating a promenade flanked by elevated paths from Monti to the Mamertine Prison - passing from Campo Carleo to the Church of Santi Luca e Martina – thus recreating the ancient connections with today's city and the surrounding districts.

The project, developed by Roma Capitale, by the Capitoline Superintendence with the technical support of Resources for Rome and the collaboration of the competent Departments and other municipal companies, is the largest investment in the central archaeological area ever made.
