The Capitoline Council has approved the memorandum relating to the scheduling of the first two dates of the Eco-friendly Sundays 2025-26 for the total ban on internal combustion engine vehicles in the ‘Fascia verde’ (Green Area) restricted traffic zone (ZTL), between 07:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 04:30 p.m. and 08:30 p.m.
There will be five eco-friendly Sundays during the 2025-2026 winter season.
The first two dates are as follows:
- 9 November 2025
- 7 December 2025
The remaining three dates will be set by a subsequent council resolution.
In addition to improving air quality, eco-friendly Sundays were created to raise awareness and engage Romans on environmental issues.
As usual, they feature a rich programme that includes events such as urban trekking, street performances, neighbourhood farmers' markets and information sessions that transform car-free Sundays into days of renewed socialising and rediscovery of the city.
All details regarding the environmental class of the vehicles concerned, any categories that may be derogated from or exempted from the bans, and any changes to dates and times, which may occur especially in view of the extraordinary events linked to the Jubilee, will be communicated in the individual ordinances relating to each date.
The programme may be subject to change.
