As part of the Romaeuropa Festival, the Teatro Argentina hosts the great Swiss director who presents, as a national premiere, the second part of a new trilogy dedicated to the story of private life.
Rau's work was inaugurated in 2020 with the controversial Familie show. On an evening like many others, an entire family eats, talks on their mobile phones, watches videos, listens to music and talks before hanging themselvestakes. In Grief & Beauty, the artist deals again with the themes of death, farewell, mourning, memory and solidarity in the final moments of existence.
On stage, four actresses and actors converse with a woman who has decided to proceed with euthanasia, sharing their personal and intimate stories of love, art, oblivion and rebirth. Inside an ordinary apartment, an experimental room, the protagonists approach the limit of the representation of death and pain, bringing to the stage the universal fragility of human beings and their beauty.
