Officially started with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 December 2024, the Jubilee 2025 is the 27th ordinary universal jubilee in the history of the Church and the second jubilee celebrated by the current pontiff after the extraordinary one in 2015.
The entire jubilee period is characterized by a rich calendar of religious, cultural and social events. Aside from celebrations and rituals addressed to all the faithful, the Holy Year’s program includes several “jubilees” dedicated to different categories of people, identified according to specific professions or their role within the family, the Church and society. Each one includes moments of dialogue and spirituality, with a concluding mass celebrated by the pope.
The days from 23 to 26 June are dedicated to the seminarians. The celebrations will open on Monday 23 June with a welcome meeting and the common recitation of the First Vespers of the Feast of St. John at the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The program for Tuesday 24 June includes catechesis with the Holy Father in St Peter’s Square at 9 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. the pilgrimage to the Holy Door with opportunities for confession in the Jubilee churches and celebration of masses for language groups. In the afternoon, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., moments of experience sharing and celebration are organised in the Gardens of Castel Sant’Angelo. The Jubilee of the Seminarians will end on the evening of Thursday 26 June with a Vocational Vigil in St Peter’s Square together with bishops and priests (from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.).
The program may be subject to change.
