Chi ha paura di Virginia Woolf?

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a classic of American drama is staged at the Teatro Argentina directed by Antonio Latella, with the new translation by Monica Capuani. The piece, Edward Albee's masterpiece written in 1962 and still performed all over the world, is also the best known of the great American playwright.

The protagonists Martha and George are a middle-aged couple who have invited a young colleague of his, Nick, and his wife Honey to their home. Between one drink and another, the four enter into a kind of "game of truth" which gradually becomes a "jeu de massacre", in which the two couples begin to bare everything about themselves, especially the owners of home. The figure of Virginia Woolf actually has no bearing on the drama: the title is a pun on the ditty Who's afraid of the big Bad Wolf?, which George and Martha hum from time to time, evoking the "bad wolf" in their lives, and at the same time the "Virginia Woolf" in them.

Main interpreters: Sonia Bergamasco, Vinicio Marchioni, Ludovico Fededegni, Paola Giannini.
