From 13 July to 24 September, the great Shakespearian theatre returns to Rome on the 20th anniversary of its birth and in the sign of Gigi Proietti.
Although in a different form and space, as an open-air structure, but still set in the evocative and magnificent greenery of Villa Borghese, the Gigi Proietti Arena Globe Theatre Silvano Toti gives continuity to the programming and the value of the unique proposal of English theatre in Rome.
The stage, set up a stone's throw from the historical Globe, is ready to welcome the new exciting theatre season that brings on stage the great titles of the Shakespearean theatre tradition and the extraordinary successes that have so thrilled the Globe's audience.
The Artistic Director, Oscar-winning Maestro Nicola Piovani, in agreement with the Proietti family, will present to the public the greatest successes performed in past seasons under the artistic supervision of Gigi Proietti, precisely to give continuity to a project so much desired by the late actor.
The collaboration with the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art, one of the most significant professional training centres in Rome and our country, continues to allow newly graduated actors to start their professional careers in an established and prestigious context.
The collaboration with the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the University of Roma Tre, which has been hosting the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre Silvano Toti Archive since 2020, also continues its activity of dissemination and development of theatrical audiences in Roman and Lazio schools. Before the shows, the Globe Talks return in their second edition: academic experts on Shakespearean theatre invite you to their informal conversations on the Bard's theatre to discover its various facets and the most curious and least known aspects.
