Uber's bikes choose Rome

Jump
depuis 4 Novembre 2019 à 30 Mars 2020

After eighteen metropolises between the United States and Europe, Rome was chosen as the first city in Italy to inaugurate Jump, the Uber bike sharing service.

The first 700 pedal-assisted bikes - they will become 2800 over time - cover an area of 57 square kilometers that extends from the historic center to the Eur, Coppedè, Monteverde Nuovo and Fleming districts.

GPS tracked, the flaming two wheels also have an aluminum body, disc brakes, three speeds, a luggage rack, a retractable padlock to tie them, and a smartphone holder that allows you to use the device to view the map for navigation, to find the nearest bike, to enable the freight by scanning the QR code and to end the sharing.

The main feature of the new Jump bicycles is the presence of the 250 W motor assisted pedaling system that helps the cyclist not to tire too much and to go faster while still pedalling, and the batteries integrated into the down tube of the low-pass frame which facilitates the user in getting on and off the saddle.

From the launch day, the Jump electric bicycles available have already become 2,500 and over 100 thousand trips have been made for a total of about 223 thousand kilometers.

Jump was designed both to meet the needs of local users and to offer a valid means of transport for visiting tourists. 73% of the trips take place during the working week which shows that citizens want to use a different system than the traditional one for their daily trips, 27% over the weekend, to enjoy the weekend around the city.

Among the most travelled routes: the historic centre from Piazza del Popolo to San Silvestro and Montecitorio, up and down Via del Corso to fully experience the city and be involved by its vitality; from the nerve centres of public transport such as Termini Station and Trastevere Station to downtown Rome. The use was very frequent also to move towards the Roman nightlife of Trastevere and Prati districts. Among the most used bike paths is the one that goes from Ponte Milvio towards Prati and that of via Nomentana.
