This year, for the first time, Rome is offering free screenings in theaters and making other cultural spaces even more accessible to cope with the summer heatwave.
Here is a list of available cultural spaces: free screenings in 11 cinemas (available in the contact section under the program link), spread across several municipalities, along with the special opening of the Squarzina Hall of the Teatro Argentina, with books available for consultation, and the Palaexpo auditorium, which is hosting the Emergency exhibition "Revelation. Lorenzo Meloni." From July 23 to August 4, 11 libraries in Rome will also be open for free, with no registration required, and free water will be distributed.
In collaboration with Anec Lazio and with the support of the Istituzione Biblioteche di Roma, the Fondazione Teatro di Roma, the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, and the Civil Protection Department of Rome, Roma Capitale is opening the doors of cinemas, libraries, and cultural spaces, providing free bottled water, transforming these spaces not only into "refuges" from the heat, but also into opportunities for socializing, culture, and entertainment. Movie theaters will screen two screenings per day: the first between 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM, depending on the theater, and the last between 6:30 PM and 6:45 PM, depending on the film's running time. The same film will be screened simultaneously in all the cinemas participating in the initiative: from the Adriano Cinema in Municipio I, to The Screen Cinemas in Ottavia in Municipio XIV, from Lux in Municipio II, from UCI Maximo on via Laurentina in Municipio IX, and from UCI di Roma Est in Lunghezza in Municipio VI, to name just a few. The libraries include the Renato Nicolini Library on via Mazzacurati in Corviale, the Vaccheria Nardi Library on via Grotta di Gregna, the Elsa Morante Library with its replacement branch at the Ostia tourist port, and the Joyce Lussu Library on via Costantino, for a total of eleven participating venues. Located in different parts of Rome, they will cover almost the entire city.
