Rome War Cemetery

Rome War Cemetery
Located on Via Nicola Zabaglia, this monumental cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It contains the remains of Commonwealth soldiers who fell in Rome during the Second World War.

The CWGC's Rome War Cemetery is the burial place of 426 Commonwealth soldiers who fell during the Second World War, since the liberation of Rome in 1944.

The new architectural features introduced in the recent 2025 renovation include two sensory paths through patches of warm and cool-coloured vegetation along the historic Aurelian Walls and in the secret garden of the grove, and two gravel paths between the Cross of Sacrifice and the Stone of Remembrance, as in the original design by architect Louis de Soissons. In addition, the site's horticulture includes new elm trees planted among the rows of tombstones and a rose garden at the far end of the cemetery.
