Parco d'affaccio Prati dell’Acqua Acetosa

The largest of the five Jubilee waterfront parks and the largest linear river park in Europe, the Prati dell'Acqua Acetosa Waterfront Park is the perfect place to take a walk and discover a unique natural habitat, far from the chaos of the city, but in the centre of Rome, take a regenerating bike ride along the Tiber, discovering its biodiversity, relax and stop to contemplate nature on a bench, amidst wide gravel paths, picturesque panoramic terraces and groves of poplars and willows.

The second of the five waterfront parks created thanks to the Jubilee funds, the Parco d'affaccio Prati dell’Acqua Acetosa (Prati dell'Acqua Acetosa Overlook Park) extends in the floodplain area between the Roma-Civita Castellana railway bridge and the Tor di Quinto bridge over an area of 8.5 hectares, now completely regenerated.

Inaugurated on 10 May 2025, the park was created thanks to a major environmental reclamation and redevelopment project. When work began in March 2024, it presented serious problems that had become consolidated over the years. The first works resulted in the removal of tonnes of waste of various kinds - over 3,952 tonnes inert, over 590 tonnes undifferentiated, over 145 tonnes bulky and metal.

At the end of the work, the renaturalisation of the area will see the planting of approximately two thousand shrubs and 100 trees, 45 of which have already been established; in the most compromised areas, a covering operation with topsoil has been carried out, followed by hydroseeding on the most difficult areas.

The Parco d'affaccio Prati dell'Acqua Acetosa not only has a strong naturalistic vocation, but also an artistic one: the themes of water and biodiversity are expressed in the mural created on an Acea turret by the vision of Moby Dick, Italy's most famous street artist with regard to environmental and animal themes.

From the five panoramic terraces with large wooden platforms directly overlooking the Tiber, you can enjoy the view of the surrounding landscape and observe its biodiversity. In addition, a cycle path has been created inside the Park, connected to the subway adjacent to the car park, which has also been regenerated and secured.

You can access the Park and the river bank via the new pedestrian path in Via del Foro Italico, at the height of the Mosque, coming from Tangenziale Est, or by bus 69, bus stop Foro Italico/Moschea.
