Chiesa di Sant'Enrico

The parish of Sant'Enrico in Casal Monastero has grown together with the neighbourhood. The church was consecrated in 1999, while the area began to develop in the mid-1990s. From the beginning it was a reference point for the first young families who moved there. Today the district has 10,000 inhabitants and has also matured spiritually. On Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 March, the community welcomed Cardinal Vicar Baldo Reina on a pastoral visit. A moment of sharing on parish life animated by 180 collaborators active in liturgical services, catechetical training, youth and family initiatives. The presence of young people aged between 14 and 26 organised in five groups was significant. These are flanked by the Agesci Roma 84 scout group, which welcomes from the little four-year-olds to the community leaders.Animated by the desire to make the concept of the outgoing Church concrete, the blessing of families also follows a participative model.For the Jubilee, a school of prayer has also been launched. The course, divided into twelve meetings until May, aims to explore the biblical cycle depicted on the sixteen panels of the Holy Door of St Peter's Basilica. As far as the pastoral care of charity is concerned, the Listening Centre is structured in such a way that it is not limited to assistance, but helps and supports families in economic, legal, psychological or medical difficulties, relying on 15 volunteers. Every 15 days, food parcels are distributed to 40 families thanks to donations from parishioners and food collections in neighbourhood supermarkets.
