A church that welcomes everyone, in the heart of Mostacciano It wants to be an open Church, without fences and prejudicial boundaries, capable of welcoming inside but above all of going out, always orienting every choice to the sure light of the Gospel of Christ. It is a Community that is starting to deal with the advanced age of the residents who, currently, express the group of greatest presence also in the Parish, enriching it with so much experience, wisdom and openness to Charity. But, as in every reality, there are shoots and shoots that give hope for a bright future, strong in a history where many, pastors and faithful, have sown with generosity and breadth. After the visit of the Cardinal Vicar Ugo Poletti to the Community of Mostacciano in May 1978, a Promotion Committee for the construction of the new Church was formed. The construction works were long and troubled due to the numerous difficulties encountered both at a technical construction and organizational level. Begun in 1979, the most important and essential lots were completed in 1984. On December 8 of that year, the tenth anniversary of the canonical erection of the Parish, the new Church was opened for worship with a solemn liturgical celebration, during which the auxiliary bishop of Rome South, Monsignor Clemente Riva, administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 96 children. On October 4, 1986, it was then consecrated by Cardinal Ugo Poletti and solemnly dedicated to Santa Maria del Carmelo. The Carmelite Fathers Amedeo Verdirosi and Tommaso Pallicca were the pioneers: since 1973 they had begun to care for, set up and start the pastoral action in the Mostacciano neighborhood, of which - thanks to their requests - the Municipal Administration has taken care to name the square and the main street of the neighborhood after the Blessed Virgin of Carmel, as well as several other streets adjacent to eminent Carmelites (Battista Spagnoli, Angelo Paoli, Alberto Grammatico, Giovanni Antonio Filippini, Andrea Corsini). The community is moved by the firm belief in the teachings of our Lord, and when we are together, surrounded by the Holy Spirit of God, we become one.
