The show at the Auditorium Parco della Musica as part of REf2022 is dedicated to the dialogue between contemporary dance and the fathers of minimalism: it was born from the collaboration between the great German choreographer Sasha Waltz and the American composer Terry Riley. In C, considered the first piece of minimalist music (1964), it represented for Terry Riley and his company a fundamental material to develop a variable choreographic structure with infinite potentials, characterized by nuanced and enveloping colors capable of capturing the viewer.
The piece is performed live by 12 musicians of the Casella Ensemble of the conservatory “A. Casella” of L’Aquila and the movements that make up the piece were also recorded as video tutorials to allow dancers from all over the world to learn the choreography.
The company Sasha Waltz & Guests was founded by Sasha Waltz and Jochen Sandig in Berlin in 1993 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in the 2018/19 season. To date, more than 300 artists from around 30 countries have collaborated as "guests" in over 80 productions.
