From ritual masks to virtual ones: ethnology meets contemporaneity in the double exhibition hosted by Cappella Orsini, to start reflecting on the importance of interpersonal communication and on the ways to amplify it through specially designed tools.
New media and digital technologies are part of the artistic path developed by Artematiko, an artist with a multifaceted personality and numerous interests: the seven works on display are inspired by characteristic images of historic Rome that give life to an interactive journey in which the city’s iconic architectures are transformed into the places of the soul that they themselves evoke. Using headphones or earphones, for each work it is possible to watch a small show by downloading the free ARTIVIVE app available for all smartphones or tablets.
The augmented reality works are combined with the over one hundred masks that make up the collection started in 2011 by Cappella Orsini lab, coming mainly from Asia, with forays into the Americas and Africa, and made of various materials, from paper mache to wood, from bronze to leather, from textile materials to ceramics. The masks are partly available to the public who can wear some safely.
