120 years of history of moving images: that’s the immersive path of MIAC - Museo del Cinema e dell'Audiovisivo, opening in December in Cinecittà studios. On an area of over 1650 square meters, 12 thematic areas that tell the history of cinema, television, comics and radio, through films and archive footage from Istituto Luce, Teche Rai and partner archives, documents, photographs, interviews, backstage and radio.
The Box Office welcomes visitors at the entrance, while the Timeline, a wall over 30- meter-long, surprises with its animated graffiti. The Conveyor belt, the 40-meter-long original roller, thrills visitors transforming their written thoughts into small printed cards. Voices, faces and music accompany people in the 12 halls with evocative names: Emotions/The Imaginary of Italian Cinema in the Twentieth Century; Actors and Actresses; History Room; Power; Landscape. Eros. Comedy. Food.; Music; Masters; Future.
Furthermore, the museum will host an exhibition area, a workshop for restoration and analogical processing of films, meetings, screenings, a media library for research in Archivio Luce and other partner archives, a conference space, a conference room and the Tullio Kezich reading room, including over 5,000 volumes.
Funded by Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali e il Turismo and created by Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, in partnership with Rai Teche and Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, the MIAC is a "museum of imaginary", as it is defined by the curators Gianni Canova, Gabriele D'Autilia, Enrico Menduni and Roland Sejko, enriched by interactive installations, videoart and transmedia languages.with the design by NONE collective.
