New direct flights between Rome and China

Colosseo
11 June 2019

Three new direct flights connect Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport with the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Shenzhen and Hangzhou.

Twice a week the route from Shenzhen to Rome Fiumicino is operational. Hainan Airlines already connects Leonardo da Vinci Airport with the Chinese cities of Chongqing and Xi'an with a non-stop service.
The other two new routes for Hangzhou, from June 12, and Chengdu, from June 25, will be operated by Air China and Sichuan Airlines respectively with three weekly flights.

The Rome-Chengdu direct flight is the first of its kind between the two cities, and marks the entry of Sichuan Airlines into the Italian market.

The launch of the three new direct air routes is part of the broader policy of Chinese orientation at Fiumicino Airport which is one of the first gateways in the world and the first European hub to be accredited as "Welcome Chinese Airport", thanks to 12 direct connections with China and Chinese signage, information and services.
