The Euro Balkan Film Festival returns to Rome from October 31 to November 7, 2026, with a week of screenings, previews, meetings, and discussions with leading authors and protagonists of European cinema.
Promoted by the Occhio Blu – Anna Cenerini Bova Association and directed by Mario Bova, the festival, now in its ninth edition, presents eleven feature films and twelve short films in competition at the Casa del Cinema, Cinema Farnese, Cinema Troisi, and Palazzo San Lorenzo. This year's title, "Europe Does Not Say Goodbye to the Balkans," indicates a program that connects the region's events to contemporary European issues, such as belonging, borders, emancipation, war, and the transmission of memory. The festival's program unfolds along two strands: films, which chronicle social transformations and the legacies of the past, and professional meetings designed to foster new collaborations. Alongside the screenings, the event inaugurates the EBFF Industry Days, three days dedicated to production relations between Italy, Europe, and the Balkan countries.
The Italian-Balkan cultural association "Occhio Blu – Anna Cenerini Bova" - founded in 2000 by Anna Cenerini Bova in collaboration with Giovanna Coletto Petta, Serena Luciani, Luciana Nardelli, and Eugenio Scalambrino - aims to promote Albanian culture, history, traditions, literature, cinema, music, and art. In addition to collaborating with its sister association, Syri Blu, in Albania, it develops contacts for the implementation of cultural projects with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the University of Calabria, the University of Palermo, the University of Bari, the University of Sassari, the University of La Sapienza, and the University of Rome 3, numerous film centers in the Balkans, UNIMED, and the Balkan-Caucasus-Transeuropa Observatory. Since 2021, the Association has expanded its activities to the geographical and cultural perimeter of the Balkans.
