The European project BIO-INTEL-MOB, coordinated by the Transport and Logistics Research Centre at Sapienza University of Rome, has been launched.
In recent days, the Roman University hosted an event attended by 31 international partners, including administrators and technicians from European cities (Cascais, Lisbon, Melsungen, Urla, Izmir, Rhodes, Vilnius, Riga), associations such as POLIS, ECTRI, IRF, representatives from the logistics and technology sectors, and the Project Officer of the European Commission. This important meeting was also attended by the Rome City Councilor for Mobility, Eugenio Patanè, who emphasized how the project fits within the objectives of the Rome Capital Administration, highlighting the project's European dimension, in line with its recent achievement of the Mission City Label, which recognizes the quality of Rome's Climate City Contract and its commitment to climate neutrality by 2030.
The BIO-INTEL-MOB project, funded by the Horizon Europe Mission Cities program with a budget of approximately €9.5 million, launched on January 1st and will conclude on June 30th, 2029. The goal is to impact mobility and logistics in peri-urban areas, focusing on:
- reducing congestion, emissions, and road accidents
- integrating solutions based on Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, and citizen-centric approaches
- improving accessibility and air quality
The project's Italian partners include: La Sapienza University, Roma Capitale, Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale (associated partner), Comune di Ciampino, Laziale Distribuzione SpA, ISFORT, and ILP Consulting SRL.
