
Poetry, tenderness, and imagination: Topo Gigio, the most beloved Italian character, is the protagonist of the original musical staged at the Teatro Brancaccio from 25 to 29 March 2026.
Directed by Maurizio Colombi, Topo Gigio il musical – Strapazzami di coccole tour is an enchanting and fairy-tale tribute to the iconic puppet, which has captivated audiences worldwide since the 1960s, and to its creator, Maria Perego.
The show, which highlights the power of dreams and the bond between mother and son, tells the story of the adorable character and the extraordinary Venetian artist. In an evocative theatrical game, the narration unfolds in a mix of reality, fantasy, and memories, from the winter day when a girl discovers a puppet smiling at her, hidden among the plastic decorations of a Christmas tree displayed in a shop window, to the birth of an international legend.
On stage, an extraordinary cast of 22 performers – dancers, acrobats, singers, and actors – along with symbolic figures of Walt Disney, Ed Sullivan, Raffaella Carrà, and Mago Zurlì, accompany the legendary protagonist. Amidst surprising stage effects, immersive technologies, and spectacular costumes by Diego Dalla Palma, a dreamlike universe comes to life to the original music by Franco Fasano and unforgettable songs – Strapazzami di coccole, Se avessi la coda anch'io, Ma le gambe, El Trabalero, Mamma Maria, On Broadway – by Topo Gigio, once again enchanting the audience with his humour, voice, and the magic of imagination.
