Piazza Navona returns to being the beating heart of Roman Christmas and turns into a large stage featuring crafts, quality products, services for Romans and evening entertainment to experience the magic of the holidays until late at night.
The Festa di Piazza Navona is, as every year, a celebration that tells the story of Rome through its creative hands, its communities and the city's unique ability to generate shared beauty.
A lively, welcoming and ever-changing place, the square is open every day from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., and until 2 a.m. on public holidays and days before public holidays.
This year, the Festival places even greater value on the crafts that preserve the city's memory: handmade nativity scenes, handcrafted decorations, wooden toys, unique gift ideas and objects with attention to the smallest details. This choice reflects the city's identity, putting craftsmanship and creativity back at the centre, because the Festa della Befana remains first and foremost a tradition that lives in the present.
On 6 December, the Mayor will symbolically inaugurate the event by walking among the exhibitors, greeting families and children and meeting the people who make this great event possible.
The 2025-2026 edition also brings with it a calendar of evening events that will light up the square with music, shows and opportunities to meet. Among the most eagerly awaited events is the “Milonga della Pace” (Milonga of Peace) on 20 December: a collective embrace that will transform Piazza Navona into a large open-air tango dance floor, dedicated to dialogue, solidarity and the joy of being together.
The Libraries of Rome enrich the festivities with a programme dedicated to children: animated readings, creative workshops and educational activities, to make every day a special occasion. Throughout the event, there will be theatre shows, concerts, performances and entertainment, making each visit different from the last.
Christmas shopping enthusiasts will find a world of handmade creations, unique products and gastronomic delights at the Befana markets: an invitation to rediscover the pleasure of gifts made with care and passion.
The institutional sector is also expanding with new services dedicated to citizens. The Roma Capitale stand features ATAC, CAR, FARMACAP Social Services, the Polo Cittadino Alzheimer and various organisations that have been committed to protecting rights for years, such as Telefono Rosa, Differenza Donna and the Casa Internazionale delle Donne. AMA is proposing initiatives for the environment and urban decorum, while Centrale del Latte di Roma is offering educational activities dedicated to children. The Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti (CTE Roma) will bring an innovative touch with digital experiences and immersive journeys for families and visitors. The offer is completed by the non-profit organisations CNAI - Consociazione Nazionale delle Associazioni Infermieri/e, Didaké and Aletes, with workshops, educational activities, fun check-ups and health advice areas designed for adults and the elderly.
As every year, the festival will entertain Romans and visitors until 6 January, when the eagerly awaited arrival of the Befana will bring to a close a whole month of magical atmospheres, traditions and shared participation.
