Journey of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch

The Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch Relay is much more than a sporting ritual: it is an exciting adventure that heralds the arrival of the Winter Olympic Games in our country. The journey begins on 26 November 2025 in Olympia, with the lighting of the traditional flame, which will then arrive in Italy, in Rome, on 4 December.

Two days later, on 6 December, the flame will set off from Rome on a 63-day journey, passing through 60 cities and covering over 12,000 kilometres, crossing all 110 Italian provinces. Each stage will be an opportunity for celebration and collective participation, to honour the Olympic values and the beauty of our country. The route is also designed to pay tribute to the great historical and cultural heritage of our country, which boasts the largest number of UNESCO sites in the world.

On 6 December 2025, the Olympic Torch, symbol of peace and unity among peoples, will begin its journey to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, starting from the Eternal City, Rome. This journey is not just a relay race, but a true tribute to the history, priceless art and sporting passion of the capital.

Every step of the Olympic Flame will be a dialogue between the past and the future, an exciting preview of the Games that await us. The journey of the Olympic Flame begins at the Stadio dei Marmi, an iconic Roman sporting venue, then continues towards the Vatican City, Largo Argentina and the iconic architecture of the Gazometro, then on to St. Peter's Square and Castel Sant'Angelo, ending at Piazza del Popolo, covering over 30 kilometres and passing through all the most iconic places in the city.
