Helbiz: new rules for using electric scooters

21 March 2023

Introduced to encourage users to utilize their fleet of electric scooters more responsibly and functionally, the new directives for the city of Rome refer, in particular, to the latest system of sanctions, which sees users charged with the costs relating to fines, removal of incorrectly parked vehicles, and any non-virtuous conduct.

The recurrence of the improper conduct leads to the charge of a penalty of up to 30 euros if parking is on the sidewalk with a consequent obstacle to pedestrian traffic.

Precisely to avoid the crowding of scooters on the sidewalks of the Capital, Helbiz has identified 180 virtual and physical stalls, near underground stations, bus stops, and the main mobility hubs, for the parking of up to five vehicles each.

Therefore, Helbiz has redefined the rates for the simple journey, which are currently 0.50 euros when unlocked and 0.12 euros per minute. With a margin of tolerance, parking outside the designated areas entails a supplement.

Furthermore, the operational area will also tend to expand to peripheral districts so that the benefits of micro-mobility can be made available to an ever-wider number of users.

Allowing users' identification via Spid and prohibiting rental to minors under eighteen, the Helbiz App will be contextually updated.
